“And, on some nights, when the southerly dropped and the bay was scaled over with moonlight, I had my first inklings of the whale ghosts”

The waters around Australia’s richest suburb, where the slaver Archibald Mosman turned whales into wealth, ripple and swell with the ghosts of the past. Dark spirits surface from the deep and roil our present, as Alex Raupach directs an ensemble of virtuoso improvisers: pianist Chris Abrahams of The Necks, PVT drummer Laurence Pike, and double bass innovator Jacques Emery. They ebb and flow in dialogue with Elias Grieg’s contemporary masterpiece of personal history, The Whale Ghosts.

Part of the 2027 Wagga Weekender Music Festival. All festival shows are General Admission and are 70 minutes, no intermission.
